Think Shift Awarded APTN Agency of Record Contract
Winnipeg agency will represent the world’s first national Aboriginal television network
March 2, 2016, WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Aboriginal People’s Television Network (APTN) has a new agency of record. After a lengthy and highly competitive process, which received submissions from top agencies across the country, Think Shift of Winnipeg was awarded the multi-year contract.
At a pivotal point in their 16-year history, APTN is launching a refreshed brand that reflects its evolution. With new, modern and relevant prime time content, they are hoping to see higher levels of engagement with a younger demographic across Canada.
“Our approach to winning the work was unique,” says David Lazarenko, President of Agency Services at Think Shift. “We went out into the community and spoke with key influencers, ultimately producing a short documentary film that speaks to what that community wants to see from APTN going forward.”
Through this process, Think Shift learned that today’s urban Aboriginal Peoples want to see modern depictions of their culture and traditions in the mainstream media while utilizing relevant tools and technologies such as apps and social media.
“We’re literally bursting with ideas,” says Lazarenko. “We can’t wait to start bringing innovative solutions that help APTN share the stories only they can tell.”
APTN CEO Jean La Rose added, “We were immediately intrigued by Think Shift. They deliver a creative, innovative and integrated approach to engagement marketing.”
“Moreover, their entrepreneurial spirit is well-suited and timely for APTN. During this period of growth at our network, we’re excited to have Think Shift evolve and strengthen APTN’s engagement with our diverse audiences and pursue unexplored paths to develop our brand.”
In conclusion, Lazarenko commented, “APTN is a very important organization in this country, and we’re excited to influence the way they’re able to connect with their viewers, and ultimately, the way the Aboriginal community connects with each other.”
